LG Chem suffered from lack of storage space at their existing warehouse. Another critical aspect was careful goods handling as products are moved from clean room to shipping.
The main task was to provide a simple and more efficient solution to increase storage space in the existing warehouse. LG Chem had several types of boxes stored on trolleys that covered 80% of the storage space in an 8 metre high warehouse and each trolley was no more than 1.5 meter high. Therefore a large amount of headroom space was wasted.
Solution:
The solution was to use two special Tornado machines with 1220 mm trays and a 300 kg load fitted with two openings in each machine. That allowed LG Chem to transfer goods directly to the machine from the production clean room maintaining critical clean conditions and then from machine to shipping. The Tornados were fitted with glass cladding to provide visibility of the product stored and ensure quality and safety control.
The Tornados are in operation 24 hours per day, 7 days per week therefore the machines are connected to on-line support system that allow them to be monitored in real time.
