Business need
SNA Europe is the premier pan-European hand tool manufacturer and is the company behind famous brands such as Bahco, Irimo and Lindstrom. The European Distribution Center is located in the Netherlands. When SNA Europe [Benelux] B.V wanted to extend its storage capacity, the logical choice was to approach Dexion, who had supplied their existing configuration.
Dexion solution
With a good working relationship already established and existing Dexion products in place, the Dexion team was able to provide a swift response, and keep costs to a minimum.
The warehouse was already equipped with Dexion Pallet Racking but advances since its installation meant that a new galvanised version the P90 was now available. As the products were from the same company, the old and new were successfully combined. The same was true when it came to the shelving. The existing H170 was seamless extended with the new HI280 system.
In addition to adapting the existing framework, Dexion was able to increase capacity in a number of other ways:
- Creating an office unit which sits on top of the HI280 shelf racking.
- Installing carton flow frames to enable SNA to use first-in, first-out (FIFO) principles.
- Introducing PD stations for the Euro pallets.
- Using cross beam support bars to enable Euro pallets to be stored in transverse direction.
The result
This project has worked on every level. The extra meeting room and office, improved layout and re-use of existing racking and shelving provided excellent value.
